The Proposal
The True Cost of the Haxted Mead Solar Proposal
Details of the proposed development and its harmful impact on our community.
The Concerning Proposal
A private energy developer is planning to impose a massive 50MW solar farm on valuable agricultural land to the east of Lingfield, Tandridge. Their concerning plans would:
- ❌ Consume approximately 220 acres (equivalent to 138 full-size football pitches) of productive farmland currently used for growing crops
- ❌ Industrialize peaceful rural land for at least 40 years
- ❌ Introduce high fencing, access roads, pylons, substations, and rows of metal infrastructure
- ❌ Permanently alter the natural landscape along the historic region
- ❌ Label token sheep grazing as "agricultural use" to justify removing land from food production
Proposed Site Location
The proposed site is located in Haxted, Surrey (TN8 6PW), to the east of Lingfield, accessed via Haxted Road from Edenbridge.
